English:

Dedo solto, corda bamba (Loose/free finger, tight rope/trembling string) - 20 short pieces of Brazilian guitar

This album is the result of 3 years of composing songs for guitar. All the tracks were composed between early 2019 and early 2022, with the exception of Flower of Ungratefulness, which existed since 2015/2016 as a solo flute version with some redundant parts, but only got an arragement for guitar in 2022. During those years, these songs ended up meaning a lot to me

Chorinho/choro is the main influence of this record (chorinho is the first Brazilian instrumental folk music genre, created in the mid to late XIX century in Rio de Janeiro by arranging European songs using the syncopated rhythm of the African lundu. Chorar is a verb meaning "to cry". Choro is the substantive form of chorar, and chorinho is the diminutive of choro). All the tracks have a pulsation, the syncopation that makes Brazilian music alive. There is a certain tension, a dance, in Brazilian guitar, between the bass, the chords and the melody, and that is what I tried to transmit with this album

I will soon make the tabs and sheet music available, because chorinhos for guitar are not made to be just listened to, but played as well. The original title for this project was Toys Made With Strings, after all, and toys are made to be played with

Translated tracklist, with some cultural notes:

1. Ready, set, go! (or, taken literally, "The start was given")
2. A necklace of tears
3. This one is untranslatable, but it means roughly the sound of lots of people talking at the same time, as in people gossiping, or the sound of running water
4. Sea breeze
5. On the corner of XV street
6. A várzea game (várzea is an extension of plain terrain. A várzea game is a game of soccer played informally in any open space)
7. With 7 keys (An expression meaning very well secluded)
8. Vain (In the sense of having vanity in a positive way, not of being vain. In Brazil saying a person is vain/has vanity can mean that person is well groomed and takes care of themselves. This song title is also in the feminine form, thus can refer both to a woman or to the song itself, as "song" is a female noun in Portuguese)
9. Debochada means a person that mocks, that is not afraid to be cynical and ironic. In this case it also is in the feminine form so can also refer to a woman or to the song itself
10. The clown prepares
11. The circus' arrival
12. Sneaky
13. Wheel of fire
14. On that night
15. Little macaw
16. Flower of ungratefulness
17. A sigh of passion
18. An ambush
19. The traps of love (Arapuca is not really trap. Trap would be armadilha. Arapuca is a more brazilian word for that, that originally meant only traps to catch small birds)
20. A game of razor (Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art that started with the black slaves. They would disguise their training as dances. A capoeira fight or dance is also called a capoeira game. Capoeira uses the legs a lot, in semicircular movements. In some capoeira games, the fighters would hold a razor between the thumb and the finger of their feet. That is what a game of razor is)
